A 21-year-old man and his teenage co-accused have appeared at the Crown Court following an incident in Ripon in which a teenager was allegedly injured in an attack involving a Taser gun.
Nixon Newton-Hayes and his co-defendant appeared at York Crown Court today (April 14).
Mr Newton-Hayes, of Bondgate, Ripon, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing a prohibited weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of an electric shock, namely a Taser. He denied both allegations.
His co-defendant, a youth who can’t be named for legal reasons, denied dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to the named teenager.
The alleged offences are said to have occurred on King Edward Road at about 8pm on March 9.
Judge Sean Morris, the Recorder of York, adjourned the case for a trial starting on August 26. It’s expected to last four days.
