From helping householders and businesses to save money on heating bills to hearing about the environmental benefits of travel by electric bus, Ripon's second Green Fair will cover a lot of ground.
Organised by Ripon Together and being held this year at the Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall on Saturday October 5, the fair, which runs from 10am until 3pm, will feature presentations by environmental experts and displays from groups and organisations, ranging from Allerton Waste to Zero Carbon Harrogate,
Other attendees will include local schools, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, Greenpeace, Jennyruth Workshops, The Lower Ure Conservation Trust, the RSPB and the Woodland Trust.
Ripon Together director, David Ingham, told the Stray Ferret:
.We are trying to include something about most aspects of the environment and provide visitors to the fair with reliable advice and information, where possible.
There will be approx. 25 stalls and stands with a wide mix of groups and organisations who are concerned about the environment.
Outside we will have a 36 Bus and people talking about integrated public transport and sustainable travel.
Mr Ingham added:
In the main church we will have 12 presentations by local experts, including talks about heat pump technology, renewable energy, retrofit improvements to homes, waste and recycling, local green issues, regenerative design, sustainable farming and local conservation.
We are very keen for local businesses to attend and to see what’s on offer. For the last hour of the presentations we will showcase how small and large organisations can consider their energy use and carbon footprint.
We will have specialists on hand to talk about cost savings, energy assessments, recycling waste and attracting green consumers.
