Bettys has announced it will introduce evening dining next month.

Food will be available at its Harrogate and York tearooms from 6pm to 9pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, starting May 2.

People can either reserve tables or walk-in.

A pianist will play classical covers of popular contemporary music during the sessions.

Sharing plates including Yorkshire charcuterie, and burrata and tapenade, will be available alongside heartier signature dishes.

Bettys will also introduce what it described as a new French 75 cocktail "inspired by the glamour and sparkle of the 1920s".

Nicky Sellars, Bettys director of branch operations, said:

We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming customers for evening dining.

The unmistakable surroundings of our Harrogate and Yorkshire establishments, each in the heart of their respective locations, and the exceptional customer service that people know from Bettys make this a perfect opportunity for time with friends, a pre-theatre meal or simply a relaxed and elegant start to your night on the town.

Bettys was established in 1919 by Frederick Belmont, a Swiss immigrant who wanted to bring continental café culture to England.

It has five tea rooms in Yorkshire, but evening dinning will only be available in Harrogate and York.
