A Knaresborough church is set to hold a classic car show tomorrow.
St John’s Church, Knaresborough, will hold an action-packed day of celebrations this Sunday, June 23.
The event will include a classic car show, musical entertainment and refreshments.
A Songs of Praise service will kick off the celebrations at 10.30am.
Following this, the classic car show will commence at 12pm in the surrounding church grounds. Two winners will be drawn from those who enter their cars into the show. These will be the best car, judged by Andy Bell, the deputy mayor, and a raffle winner drawn from the car entrance tickets.
At 1pm Cadenza, a local choir, will perform familiar musical favourites in the church.
The day of celebrations will be closed by choral evensong by St John’s Choir at 4pm. This precedes the choir’s performance in Westminster Abbey and St George’s Chapel in August.
Throughout the event, refreshments, such as hot sandwiches and cakes, will be available in the Hub, located opposite the church. An outside bar will be serving Pimm’s and Rooster’s beer.
The event is to commemorate the feast day of St John the Baptist, the church’s patron saint.
Attendance is free of charge for spectators, but contributions are welcome.
A £5 fee will be required to enter a car into the show. No prior booking is required to do so.
Subscription is coming on July 1. To find out what to expect click here.
