A Harrogate autism charity was ‘honoured’ to attend a garden party hosted in Buckingham Palace.
Autism Angels, which is based in Summerbridge, was invited to the royal grounds last week for a celebration hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The event, which was supported by the Department of Education, celebrated those working in education and skills.
The invitation followed the charity’s receiving of a High Sheriff Award for Resilience.
The award is a recognition presented by the High Sheriff of Essex to people or organisations who show exceptional resilience in their work.
It was bestowed upon the group to reflect the work they do to help young people bounce back despite setbacks and difficulties.
Autism Angels has supported thousands of children and families across North Yorkshire since its inception in 2012.
It is dedicated to supporting families with children who have additional needs through therapeutic services that promote mental health, well-being, and community engagement. No diagnosis is needed to access its services.
Sarah Keoka, founder of Autism Angels said:
It was an incredible honour to be part of such an amazing day and to be recognised for the work we do with children and young people.
Autism Angels volunteer, Ash, and team member, Sarah Morrison also attended The Duke of Edinburgh garden party at the palace last Monday (May 12).
Ash was invited following the completion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.

Autism Angels said:
Ash is a true inspiration and we couldn’t be any more proud. She is a great advocate in sharing their story showing others who may be struggling not to give up; that once you find your own path, anything is possible.
