It's where you can come to be cared for, nourished and restored. Where you can look after your mind, body and soul. A sanctuary, if you will.
It’s about promoting a lifestyle that’s good for the inner being. Indeed, its ethos is to ‘come as you are, explore what you can be and find your unique path of self discovery’.
Founded by Katie Kavanagh in 2017, her catalyst for creating The Acorn is that her husband was diagnosed at the age of 29 with cancer when she was 14 weeks pregnant.
This was of course a very challenging time for her, and so she set about creating a place that she would have benefitted from, and others, for those who are affected by cancer.
And so Acorn Wellness was born, and with it, its Recovery Retreats, all backed by Acorn's not-for-profit ethos.
Another key reason why Katie wanted to start Acorn Wellness was that she had discovered the benefits of yoga, mindfulness, and nature, all of which were hugely beneficial to her overall wellbeing. And she wanted to share her own experience with others to inspire and to help them to forge their own paths to wellness.
Offering yoga, nutrition, treatments, retreats, and wellness for business, to name just a few of the pillars that Acorn Wellness prides itself on – more on all of these below – Katie has an experienced team of specialists and therapists who share their knowledge with everyone who visits.
This is all to the backdrop of the setting in which Acorn Wellness is located. Positioned in the beautiful Nidderdale countryside, close to Brimham Rocks, the setting itself is sure to inspire, and provides peace and tranquillity as it’s surrounded by lush greenery, towering trees, and all you can hear is the relaxing sound of birdsong.
Offering various retreats, from half days to overnight stays, there’s sure to be something for everyone whatever their needs are. These include the Just Be Time half day retreat, the full-day Yoga and Sound Retreat and the Whole Health Retreat day that covers holistic ways to optimise your overall health. It also offers seasonal day retreats; on June 19 it's hosting its Summer Day Retreat.
Meanwhile you can stay in one of four of Acorn Wellness’s luxurious sleep spaces on its overnight retreats, all of which include yoga, gong therapy, relaxation, plant-based meals, walks and optional treatments.
For those who can only spare an hour or so, it's incredible what you can do in this hour for your overall health and wellbeing. Take its yoga sessions, for example. One of the most popular is practitioner's Julie Cooper who teaches her classes most Mondays from 9.30am-10.30am; it makes for a positive way to start the week where you can come as you are to the mat.
Another key offering at Acorn Wellness is its treatments. Whether it’s holistic such as crystal healing or reiki, massage, reflexology or a bespoke treatment, the therapists at Acorn Wellness will tailor it to your needs – to make sure that you get what you need out of it and come away feeling renewed, restored and relaxed.
Its Wellness for Business is also a must-mention as Acorn Wellness organises away days to give colleagues time to connect with each other and learn new tools.
In summary, if you’ve not yet visited Acorn Wellness, why not take a look at what it offers? There’s something for everyone wherever you’re at with your wellness journey.
