A community choir from Knaresborough finished runner-up in the 15th Manchester Annual Choral Competition yesterday.
Knot Another Choir is a mixed charitable choir with over 100 members led by musical director Craig Lees, who is also a principal lecturer at Leeds College of Music.
Eighty-five members of the choir took part in the competition at the Royal Northern College of Music on Sunday, March 3.
The competition was judged by singers Jane Irwin, David King and Robert T.Elliot, who judged the choirs on "Harmony, musical difficulty, intonation, clarity of text, discipline, musicality, presentation and 'wow factor'," according to the event website.
Knot Another Choir sang a set of Whitney Houston songs, including Higher Love, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and Steal Away as a tribute to the late singer.
The choir competed against 14 other choirs including barbershop, children's choirs, chamber choirs, acapella choirs and other community choirs.
Julie Bradbury-Sharp, choir trustee, said:
