The playground at Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre finally looks set to open.
The leisure centre opened in December following several months of delays, but the playground was not ready at the time.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Council told the Stray Ferret at the opening the play area would open in January. However, it has yet to be used by the public.
But the leisure centre took to social media yesterday to say:
The leisure centre was built as part of the council’s £47.9 million investment into local leisure provisions.
The £17.5 million building, which was built on the former Knaresborough Pool site, has a six-lane 25-metre swimming pool, a slide, and a 60-station fitness suite. It also boasts a sauna and steam room, a café, a group cycling studio and a studio for group fitness classes.
The site is run by Brimhams Active, a North Yorkshire Council-owned company that operates leisure services. However, Brimhams will soon be abolished and leisure services brought back in-house.
