Northern Gas Networks has today confirmed that works on Halfpenny Lane in Knaresborough have been completed and the road is set to reopen tomorrow evening.
Work on the busy road began in March and were due to end in April but after multiple extensions, including a six week delay, the road is now set to reopen.
The company told the Stray Ferret the roadworks involved exploratory work to divert underground infrastructure at the railway bridge and had been delayed “due to the complexity of the work involved”.
Scott Kitchingman, operations manager at Northern Gas Networks, said:
We apologise for the inconvenience caused by our work on Halfpenny Lane. The nature of the scheme has been complicated and in addition has required permits and authorisations from third parties. I am pleased however to advise that the road will receive final reinstatement today, meaning it can reopen tomorrow evening.
We appreciate the patience of the public while we have been carrying out our essential work, it has however been necessary to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area.
