Knaresborough Town have published their retained players list for the 2025/26 season.
This season was one of ups and downs for the Manse Lane side. They finished 12th in the Premier Division of the Northern Counties East Football League after a terrible start to the season, which had them mere points above the relegation zone in November.
Despite their poor start, the Boro’s upturn in form saw them progress through to the JCP Construction League Cup final – their second final in two years – which manager Simon Parkes said was largely due to a “fundamental change to our back five”.
Knaresborough narrowly missed out on cup glory after a thrilling 3-2 defeat against Beverley Town.
The club has now announced the following players will remain at the club:
At the time of publication, the club has announced five new signings:
Sammy Lambert has also joined from Tadcaster Albion as Head of Medical staff.
Captain Ben Parkes announced his departure yesterday after 355 appearances over 13 years at the club. In a statement posted on X, he said:
This has well and truly been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made leaving a club I love so much and especially with leaving my brother as a gaffer and so many good friends.
Due to a new role at work and the fact I am not getting any younger, I want to leave on a high knowing personally last season was one of my best seasons I have had at the club.
Getting promotion to NCEL prem, best ever FA cup run and captaining the club to the highest league finish in history including two cup finals in two years are very special to me.
Good luck to my brother and all the lads on the promotion push next year. I want to say a huge thank you to the club and everyone who is and has been involved. I’ll be forever in your debt for all the special memories I’ve had. I will be down when I’m not playing to support the boys and have some beers. It’s been a pleasure and honour.
Knaresborough say that three more players have also left the club.
