A new Mediterranean restaurant will open in Harrogate next month.

The establishment will be based in the former Saranda Bar and Grill unit on Station Bridge.

Saranda opened in 2018 and entered liquidation in July this year. The site has been vacant since.

The restaurant will now become Dino’s Lounge Bar and is expected to open early in December, dependent on building works.

It will serve customers seven days a week from 10am-11pm and is expected to create between 10 to 15 jobs.

Owner Dino Arik, 53, is originally from Turkey and began his love for catering after working as a teenager in restaurants in Bodrum.

He told the Stray Ferret that the unit will have a “new concept” in a building that has undergone a refurbishment costing between £20,000 and £30,000.

The bar has been moved to create more seating space to accommodate around 60 customers and the décor will change to match the brand’s theme.

Mr Arik said:

I have given everything into this shop, my heart and my soul have been put into it because I love this restaurant.

Harrogate is a nice town and reminds me of Bodrum because it gets lots of tourists.

Since my childhood I have looked after people, and I am still catering for people, so everyone should come and see our hospitality when we open.

He added that the cuisine will consist of “a little bit of everything Mediterranean” and be cooked in-house by Mr Arik and an Italian chef.

He told the Stray Ferret he had known the previous owner of Saranda for over 10 years and thought it would be a good opportunity to take the restaurant over.

The provisional opening date is December 10.
