Plans have been revealed to bring Knaresborough's former cattle market site back into use after 20 years.
According to documents submitted to North Yorkshire Council, Scriven Park Estates has applied to demolish the current buildings and build a commercial unit.
A design and access statement submitted by Harrogate Architectural Ltd on behalf of the applicant, said the owner secured the site late last year.
It added:
The cattle market, near Stockwell Road, was built in 1907 close to the train station so livestock could be transported easily.
The disused 0.32-hectare site is allocated for commercial and residential development in the Harrogate District Local Plan 2014-35, which outlines where development can take place.
It currently contains stone buildings with corrugated sheet roofs covering an auction ring and internal livestock pens with ancillary offices.
The design and access statement said the applicant wants to talk to the council about creating a new access road from Ash Tree Road. It added:
