Ship Inn at Aldborough

The Ship Inn at Aldborough, near Boroughbridge, looks set to reopen soon.

The pub on Low Road, which has been closed since last year, is under new management, which plans to reopen the venue in March.

Previous owners Brian Rey and Elaine Howden ran the pub for many years and established a reputation for serving real ales and home-cooked food Located in the middle of Aldborough, the venue attracted many visitors and high-profile guests, including Princes William and Harry.

But in October 2021 the pub was damaged by a fire after an electrical fault in a washing machine.

The £500,000 renovation enabled the pub to accommodate up to 200 people inside and outdoors.

There is no confirmed re-opening date at this stage, but the new management company, UK Hospitality Management, is aiming for the beginning of March.

A spokesperson said:

“There are contractors on-site working to get it ready to hand over, then the team will be moving in to get it opened as soon as possible. We are aiming for the beginning of March.
“Our executive head chef is currently working on the new menus and his team will be offering some amazing food, both classical pub dishes along with some new dishes. The Ship will be having a refit later in the year, but our main concern is to get this amazing pub back open as soon as possible.”
