The issue of having a failing crown at the front of the mouth is extremely common. The traditional method would be to take the affected tooth out and let the extraction socket heal for up to 12 weeks.
It used to be necessary to fill the gap with a temporary denture to allow for healing. But now, thanks to the latest techniques and materials - and backed by clinical research - we can remove the compromised tooth, place the implant straight into the gap and fit a temporary crown all in one visit.
This means a temporary denture is usually not needed. The final crown is made after three months of healing, and the same type of treatment is even possible for larger spaces or even a full arch of teeth.
