A Harrogate schoolgirl is set to compete in two European triathlon championships.

Ruby Tetley, a year 12 student at Ashville College, will represent Great Britain in the under-20s category of the 2025 Europe Triathlon Championships in Istanbul.

The tournament will take place on August 30 to August 31.

A podium finish in the recent Nottingham Outlaw Sprint qualifying event ensures she will also qualify for next year’s European finals.

At just 16 years old, Tetley placed second in the event. She swam 750 metres in open water, cycled 20 kilometres and ran 5 kilometres.

The host city is yet to be announced.

Tetley is on the sport’s youth talent development pathway.

A member of the Leeds Bradford Triathlon Club, she recently produced two more medal-winning performances.

Tetley secured bronze and silver in the under-20 female category at the Age Group British and English Sprint Triathlon Championships respectively.

The athlete said the sport is demanding. She said:

The sport demands a lot of hard work and training, both in and out of the school day.

I am pleased this has translated into some high-ranking performances which now gives me an opportunity to race against other performance triathletes in Britain and Europe.

Head of Ashville, Rhiannon Wilkinson, said:

The high levels of speed and endurance that Ruby has developed to become a fast-emerging talent in the sport is testimony to her dedication.

We are all thrilled to see Ruby flying the flag for Harrogate and representing her school and club not just on a national stage but an international one as well.
