Panto in February? Oh yes it is!

Did you know that Pannal Players has put on an annual pantomime at Pannal Village Hall in Harrogate for almost 40 years?

Raising money for the teenage and young adult cancer service at St James’s Hospital in Leeds, in memory of former Pannal Payers member Joanna Luty, this year’s story is Cinderella.

The panto takes place at Pannal Village Hall every year

Taking place over four days, expect catchy tunes, cheeky jokes, a little chaos, and plenty of sparkle.

From £6, February 19-22, Pannal Village Hall, Station Road, Pannal, Harrogate, HG3 1JG.

Make your own bird box at Brimham Rocks

Get crafty

Are you looking for an alternative activity to do with the kids this half term? Then why not make a bird box at Brimham Rocks?

Recommended for children over the age of six, the team will help each child to make their own bird box to take home with them, which will offer a safe place for birds to raise their young this spring and beyond.

£10, various times on February 21, and last approximately 45 minutes, Brimham Rocks advises booking in advance; however, if there are spaces available on the day, these can be booked at the welcome hut. Normal car parking charges apply. Brimham Moor Road, Summerbridge, Harrogate, HG3 4DW.

A sound investment

The Harrogate Record Fair is taking place on Saturday, and it comes from the team behind the renowned Brudenell Record Fair in Leeds.

Selling one-off records as well as collections, all music genres and tastes are catered for.

The company is also holding three other record fairs in Harrogate this year, and if you’d like to sell any of your albums, you can book a table in advance.

Free, 10am-4pm, February 22, Wesley Centre, Harrogate, HG1 1PP.

Channel your creativity

The World’s End pub in Knaresborough hosts an open mic night every Sunday.

Whether you’re a musician, poet, comedian, or storyteller, all forms of expression are welcomed, and you can showcase your talent – as seen above – or if you’d prefer, you can sit back and watch an evening of live performances.

And with its top-end PA system, every voice will be heard loud and clear.

Free, 6.30pm sign-up, 7pm start, every Sunday, 65 Bond End, Knaresborough, HG5 9AU.

Watch a blockbuster

The Memorial Hall in Pateley Bridge is home to Cinema In The Dale, a community cinema for the area.

This Saturday it is screening the 2024 film Twisters, which is about a retired tornado-chaser who is persuaded to return to Oklahoma to work with a new team and new technologies. The film is rated a 12A and stars Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

£6 per tickets, doors open at 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm, February 22, The Memorial Hall, North Yorkshire, HG3 5JS.
