Try a new skill that harks back to ancient times
Just Makers in Ripley is holding a Stone Carving Taster Workshop on Friday.
Suitable for all levels, it’s an opportunity to hand-carve a 2D image of your own choosing into stone using traditional tools and methods.
Hosted by seasoned local stone mason Alex Macey, he will help attendees master the fundamental masonry skills, as well as refine their technique.

Hopewell Studios in Knaresborough is hosting a four-week oil painting course.
Artist and former teacher Andrew Stratford will guide everyone through a variety of techniques for painting in oils.
Suitable for beginners to those wishing to explore a new painting medium, each week there will be new things to learn, and methods to develop and enhance oil painting skills.
Coursegoers will gain knowledge of materials and tools, colour theory and mixing, as well as techniques such as brushwork, the use of palette knives, glazing, and impasto.
Materials will be provided, but for those who have their own, they can bring them if they’d prefer.

Head to Masham this weekend where you can learn the art of distilling and what it takes to produce a well-balanced and harmonious London Dry Gin from the Spirit of Masham Distillery.
Choose your own botanicals then learn the art of distillation – you will be allocated one of the 12 copper alembic stills for your own personal use – then take your very own 70cl bottle home with you.

Taking place at the Fitness Garage in Harrogate, you can learn about how food choices, calories and macro nutrients – protein, fats and carbohydrates – relate to everyday life and exercise.
The 90-minute workshop will cover food labels and shopping habits, day-to-day nutrition habits, and tactics to manage tricky food environments, and how any diet succeeds or fails. There will also be the opportunity to create a personalised weekly template and shopping list to match your goals and body type.

Listen to live music in Boroughbridge
Hailing themselves as ‘the ultimate Britpop experience', the Mis-Shapes (named after the Pulp song) will be playing at the Fox & Hounds in Boroughbridge on Saturday.
They will be playing classic tunes from the 90s era, including big-name bands of the time, Blur and Pulp. So, bring your friends, dance and reminisce the night away.
