A Melmerby company's plan to build a new maintenance facility and offices has been approved.
Robinson Bobcat Hire submitted the plans for its site on Melmerby Industrial Estate on Melmerby Green Lane, near Ripon.
The company tabled a proposal to build an 853 square metre maintenance facility and 172 square metre, two-storey ancillary offices with solar panels.
The plans include space for six heavy goods vehicles inside the maintenance building.
The offices, which are designed for the company’s administrative staff, would include meeting rooms, a staff room and welfare facilities.
North Yorkshire Council has approved the proposals.
In documents submitted to the council, the developer said the move would help to secure the “long-term future” of the company.
It added that the plans would help to amalgamate the firm’s services onto a “purpose-built site”.
The developer said:
Robinson Bobcat Hire need a larger maintenance facility for their operating fleet, increased office space for their administration staff and a central base from which all their employees can operate.
Current company facilities and service provision yards are dispersed over several sites and in leased accommodation, including that on the neighbouring Melmerby Industrial Estate. Company progress, operating efficiency and growth is at present being hindered.
This application is part of the applicant's proposed development to address these matters and amalgamate them on a purpose-built site, on allocated industrial land that has been specifically purchased to deliver the solution.
