Police are trying to locate an elderly man who was assaulted by a drunk man in Ripon this week.
According to constable Mike Spittlehouse, who appealed for help today, the drunk man caused a nuisance on the 36 bus from Harrogate on Tuesday morning (April 15).
He got off at Ripon bus station at about 9.45am and “became abusive and threatening towards other members of public who were waiting to board,” said PC Spittlehouse, who added:
The male assaults an unknown elderly male during this incident. Unfortunately the elderly male left the area before police arrived and is yet to be identified.
The suspect has been identified and will be dealt with for public order offence in due course. I wish to identify the unknown elderly male in order to allow me to also pursue a case of assault on his behalf.
This notice is an appeal for any persons with knowledge of the identity of the elderly male who was assaulted to come forward.
PC Spittlehouse, who is part of North Yorkshire Police’s safer neighbourhood team for the outer Harrogate area, urged anyone with information to call 101 and quote incident number 12250066590.
