A past Harrogate Fashion Week show.

The company behind Harrogate Fashion Week has been sold.

Wendy Adams, director of W&S Exhibitions Ltd, today told the Stray Ferret she – and co-director Sarah Moody – will retire after six years at the helm.

The pair set up Harrogate Fashion Week, a bi-annual trade show held at the Convention Centre, in 2018. Ms Adams said it started in just one room, but now spans four.

According to The Gazette, Rushtons Insolvency Ltd was appointed to liquidate the company yesterday (October 21).

A notice to creditors states the directors made a declaration of solvency and it is expected that all creditors will be paid in full.

The Stray Ferret approached W&S Exhibitions Ltd for clarification on the situation. Ms Adams confirmed the company behind the fashion week has been sold to a colleague and said the liquidation was "positive".

She told the Stray Ferret the pair are both “60-odd” and ready for retirement, adding:

All exhibitors have been made aware.

The exhibition is thriving. I'd like people to know it's business as usual and the next show is already 75% full.

Ms Adams is also involved in Harrogate Bridal Week, which is another bi-annual trade show in the town.

Harrogate Fashion Week will return from February 2 to 4 next year.

It markets itself as a way of bringing independent brands, retailers and industry buyers together.
