A Ripon funeral firm has lit up its building for Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Baby Loss Awareness Week, which starts tomorrow (October 9), raises awareness of pregnancy and baby loss each year.
Rushton Family Funerals, which is based on Westgate, will be lighting its shop front in pink and blue throughout the week to remember babies gone too soon.
Charities supporting the annual campaign encourage organisations to light buildings and landmarks pink and blue during the week.
Rushton has also created a large heart-shaped display in its front window made up of hundreds of individual pieces of yellow, pink, and blue paper.
People are invited to write the names of babies gone too soon on the display.
The week culminates with a global Wave of Light on October 15, when candles will be lit at 7pm UK time and left burning for at least an hour in memory of those lost.
Rushton Family Funerals Ripon supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week
Evie Mawdsley, mortuary technician at Rushton, said:
We’d love to let the people of Ripon and surrounding areas know that we are here to support them and if they want to come add a baby's names to our big heart or join us for the Wave of Light on the 15th they are more than welcome to.
The firm's Wave of Light event will see those taking part walk to the monument in the market square for 7pm to light candles.
Ms Mawdsley will also give a reading that includes the names of all the departed babies whose names are displayed in the window.
