A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Harrogate early this morning.
Police were called to a home on Claro Road at 12.15am after a man in his teens received what officers have described as “significant injuries”.
A North Yorkshire Police statement this evening added the man was taken to hospital by paramedics and continues to receive treatment.
The statement added his family are being supported by specially trained officers and urged people to respect their privacy.
The boy was arrested at 12.25pm and remains in police custody.
There was a heightened police presence in the area around Claro Road today.
Detective Inspector Nichola Holden said:
“We know local residents are likely to be concerned by this incident and I hope the quick arrest of a suspect will go some way to reassure them.
“We believe this to be an isolated event with both teenagers known to each other and we are carrying out a full investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding it.”
“Several witnesses have been spoken to or interviewed by officers investigating this incident and we are confident we have spoken to everyone we need to. However, if you have any other information which you feel may be relevant, please contact police as soon as possible.”

The police statement added:
“We know many people may wish to comment on this incident, especially on social media, we do ask speculation is avoided as not only can this be detrimental to the investigation but can also cause upset to the family and friends of the victim at this deeply upsetting time.”
Police urged anyone with information to call 101 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Ripon man appears in court charged with attempted murderA Ripon man appeared in court today charged with attempted murder.
Kyle Harpin, 33, of Priest Lane, was charged with attempting to murder Ben Mintcher on North Street on October 16 last year.
He pleaded not guilty at Leeds Crown Court, where the case was adjourned.
Harpin today pleaded guilty to six other charges, including possessing a knife on North Street in Ripon, two charges of threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in public, two charges of assaulting a police constable at Harrogate District Hospital, and racially aggravated harassment of another police officer at Harrogate Police Station.
He will be sentenced for these crimes on February 21.

Ripon man charged with attempted murder
A Ripon man has been charged with attempted murder, assaulting emergency workers and carrying a weapon in a public place.
Kyle Harpin, 33, of North Street in the city, appeared before York Magistrates Court yesterday.
He was charged with attempting to murder another man, who was named in court, on North Street on Sunday.
Mr Harpin was also charged with assaulting two police constables at Harrogate District Hospital on the same date.

He also allegedly used threatening, abusive or insulting words with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress towards another police officer at Harrogate Police Station.
Mr Harpin faced a further charge of carrying a knife in a public place on North Street in Ripon.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Crown Court on November 7.
Woman denies attempted murder in BiltonA 44-year-old woman denied attempted murder in Bilton when she appeared in court today.
Clare Bailey, of The Riddings, Dudley, appeared before Leeds Crown Court this morning to face the charge.
Ms Bailey, who appeared by via video link from Low Newton Prison, near Durham, spoke only to confirm her name and date of birth before entering a plea of not guilty.
She is alleged to have attempted to murder the named woman at a house on Byland Road, Bilton, on Thursday, June 23, this year.
The court set a trial date of December 12, 2022, which is scheduled to last for five days.

Man released after conspiracy to commit murder arrest in Bilton
A man who was arrested in connection with an incident in Bilton has been released with no further action taken.
Police were called to a property on Byland Road on Thursday, June 23, where a woman was found with serious injuries.
A man in his 40s was arrested following the incident. Clare Bailey, 44, was also arrested.
The man was initially arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and bailed pending investigation.

However, North Yorkshire Police has confirmed over the weekend he has been released from bail and no further action is being taken against him.
Ms Bailey, 44, was charged with attempted murder.
She appeared before York Magistrates Court on June 27, but entered no plea.
Ms Bailey, who is from Dudley, will now appear before Leeds Crown Court on July 25.

North Yorkshire Police said yesterday that the man was bailed while its investigation continues.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also charged with assaulting an emergency worker.
It follows an incident in the village on the morning of Monday last week.
He appeared before York Magistrates Court on Saturday after being arrested by police on Friday and subsequently charged.
The case was sent to Leeds Crown Court on Friday, July 22.

A woman in her 40s has been charged with attempted murder in Harrogate.
Clare Bailey was due to appear at York Magistrates Court today.
A man, also in his 40s, has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
The two people were arrested on Friday after an incident on Byland Road in Bilton on Thursday.
A woman was taken to hospital with what police described as ‘substantial injuries’.
Forensic officers were called to the scene after the incident.
Today’s update by North Yorkshire Police said the man has been bailed while the investigation continues.

Man, 40, charged with attempted murder in Beckwithshaw
A 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in Beckwithshaw.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also charged with assaulting an emergency worker.
It follows an incident at a house on the main B6161 Otley Road, very close to the local primary school, at about 8.20am on Monday.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today:
“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have been dropping off children at the school, or commuters passing by, to check their vehicle dashcam and report any footage that may have captured any part of the incident prior to the attendance of the emergency services.”

Woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Harrogate
A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Bilton.
A man in his 40s has also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
It follows an incident at a house in Byland Road last night when a woman was seriously injured by what police believe to be a “bladed article”.
A North Yorkshire Police statement this evening said:
“It has also been established this was an isolated incident and it is believed there is no further risk to the wider public.”

“We hope this goes some way to reassure the residents of Bylands Road and the surrounding areas.”
Police were called to Byland Road at about 5pm yesterday. Forensic officers also attended the scene.
The woman is the second person in the Harrogate area to be arrested on suspicion of attempted murder today.
This morning a 40-year-old man was arrested for the attempted murder of an 11-year-old child and a 10-year-old child, following an incident in Beckwithshaw on Monday.
