Today in the Harrogate district a further four cases of coronavirus have been reported.
The figures, released by Public Health England, take the total since the start of the pandemic to 7,630.
The district’s seven-day case rate has risen slightly and now stands at 24.2 per 100,000. Despite the increase it remains below North Yorkshire’s average of 25.2.
North Yorkshire’s average is now slightly above England’s which is 25.1.
Today marks one week since Harrogate District Hospital reported its last covid death on April 11. The total number of covid patients that have died since the start of the pandemic remains at 179.

Five more covid cases in Harrogate district
Five coronavirus cases have been reported in the Harrogate district today.
According to Public Health England statistics, today’s cases take the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 7,626.
No further covid deaths have been reported at Harrogate District Hospital, according to NHS England figures.
The last death recorded at the hospital was April 11.
The seven-day covid rate in the district stands at 23 per 100,000 people. It remains below the North Yorkshire average which is 24.6.

Yesterday, figures from NHS England revealed the number of people who have received a first dose of a covid vaccine in the Harrogate district has reached nearly 95,000.

Although the number remains low, there has been an increase in cases this week compared with last week.
The total since the start of the pandemic now stands at 7,617.
The district’s seven-day average rate of infection is now 20 per 100,000. This is below the county’s average of is 25 per 100,000 and the England average of 28.
No further covid deaths have been reported at Harrogate District Hospital. The total since the start of the pandemic remains at 179.
The hospital said today it has five inpatients with coronavirus.

In other covid news, it has been revealed today that for 19 days in the summer, vaccinations will be suspended at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
This is to allow events, including the Great Yorkshire Show, to go ahead.

Harrogate district reports 12 coronavirus cases this weekend
Over the weekend, a further 12 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the Harrogate district.
Government data shows that five were reported on Saturday and a further seven today.
One more person has died after testing positive for coronavirus at Harrogate District Hospital. The death was reported on Friday, March 12.
This takes the total number of coronavirus deaths since the start of the pandemic to 176.

Over recent weeks the number of cases each day is decreasing this has brought down the district’s seven-day case rate too.
The Harrogate district now has a seven-day case rate of 42.9 per 100,000 population which is now below the North Yorkshire average of 45.5.
The Harrogate district is also below the England average which currently sits at 58.3 per 100,000.
Coronavirus case rates drop but Harrogate records another deathHarrogate District Hospital has recorded another coronavirus death but the case rates have dropped even further in the Harrogate district.
The latest death, which happened on Wednesday but was reported today, takes the hospital to 159 coronavirus deaths.
A further 18 people tested positive for the virus in the Harrogate district today. The total number of cases in the district is now up to 7,280.
Cases in the Harrogate district have remained around the 20 mark for much of the last month and even lower in the last week.

Those dropping numbers of cases has meant that the district’s seven-day case rate is now at 75 per 100,000 people.
That is below the England average of 102 per 100,000 but just above the North Yorkshire average of 72 per 100,000.
It comes as Knaresborough’s vaccine centre opened today. Depending on supply, it can give out 1,200 jabs in a day.
Harrogate district records a further 53 covid casesThe Harrogate district has recorded a further 53 coronavirus cases today, according to Public Health England figures.
The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at 6,611.
Today, the UK recorded 23,275 covid cases.
The seven-day covid rate has fallen again today, it now stands at 172.2 per 100,000.

A further death from a patient who tested positive for covid has been reported at Harrogate District Hospital.
The data from NHS England shows the number of covid deaths at the hospital since the pandemic began is now 125. The death was recorded on January 29.

According to NHS England figures, the deaths were reported on January 15 and 16. It takes the number of people who have died of the virus at the hospital since March 2019 up to 121.

The 7 day average of cases per 100,000 in the district now stands at 307 (latest data January 14).
The district has reported a total of 5,939 covid cases since the start of the pandemic last year.
New coronavirus variant ‘certainly’ in North YorkshireLocal health leaders believe that the new coronavirus variant is in North Yorkshire as the country heads into a national lockdown.
While they have no concrete evidence, they say cases have spiked locally in line with the variant’s fast-spreading nature.
The seven-day rate of infection in North Yorkshire has risen from 189 per 100,000 people on December 30, to 346 today.
In the Harrogate district, the seven-day rate has risen to 297 per 100,000 people.
However, all districts in North Yorkshire remain below the England average seven-day rate of 560 per 100,000.

In a coronavirus press briefing today, local health bosses warned that the coronavirus case rates will likely worsen over the next two weeks.
Dr Victoria Turner, a public health consultant at North Yorkshire County Council, said:
“We have talked for the last couple of weeks about the new variant that has been spreading from the south east of England.
“I mean we will certainly have cases of this in North Yorkshire.
“Now we have to act as if this is the predominant form of the virus across the country. We should treat every cases as the new variant.”
National lockdown hits Harrogate district
The Harrogate district’s streets were quiet this morning on the first full day of the third national lockdown.
In response to an “alarming” rise in coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the new restrictions yesterday evening.
Mr Johnson said that people across England will be asked to stay at home, only leaving for essential shopping, medical needs, work where it cannot be done from home, and to escape domestic violence.
He concluded his announcement with the same message as he gave when last March’s first lockdown was announced: “Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.”
Just 11 coronavirus cases in Harrogate districtThe Harrogate district has recorded just 11 more coronavirus cases in the daily figures today.
It is one of the lowest daily increases since the second wave of the pandemic but remains above the cases reported in tier one areas.
So far, the Public Health England figures for the district total 3,939 since early March.
Harrogate District Hospital has not reported any further coronavirus deaths since December 12. On that day the hospital reached 106 deaths.

The seven-day average rate of cases for the district is at 93 per 100,000. For North Yorkshire, the number is 116. Scarborough has the highest rates in the county at 214.
The Harrogate district learned this week that it will remain in tier two after the first government review of the national tier rules.
Tier rules are based on factors such as infection rates, particularly in the over 60s, and pressure on hospitals.
Case rates in the Harrogate district remain more than double those in tier one areas.
