A Harrogate advertising company has acquired Adverta Transport Advertising as part of an expansion at the firm.
CP Media, which has offices on East Parade, will add 23 more staff to its team following the acquisition.
Adverta, which is based in Ripon, is one of the UK’s largest bus and tram advertising specialists and represents around 30 bus companies.
Mike Brennan, chief executive of CP Media, said:
“The bus and tram advertising sector is one that we know well. I was heavily involved in transport advertising for many years alongside my business partner Andrew Walker. This means that Adverta is a perfect fit for our ambitious growth strategy.
“We are really looking forward to working with the Adverta team and growing the business in the same way that we have grown the main CP Media business and subsequently Eye Airports following our 2019 acquisition.”

Knaresborough opticians win social media award
A Knaresborough opticians has won an award recognising its social media practice.
Yorkshire Eyewear, which has a branch on High Street in the town, picked up the award at the Opticians Awards in London.
The awards aim to recognise best practice in the industry.
A total of 32 categories were up for nomination, including technology, lens, frame, and contact lens award.
In a tweet, Yorkshire Eyewear said it was delighted to win the best social media practice award.

A Harrogate advertising firm has won a media contract from a ferry company.
CP Media, which specialises in outdoor advertising and has an office in Harrogate, will upgrade media sites across all 33 CalMac ferries, ranging from traditional print to the latest digital screens.
CalMac is the UK’s largest ferry operator, transporting more than five million passengers a year to the Clyde, West Coast and Hebridean Islands.

Harrogate Bus Company renames 36 bus after Rachel Daly
Harrogate Bus Company has renamed one of its 36 buses after local football hero Rachel Daly.
Daly was part of the England Lionesses side which won Euro 2022 last month after a 2-1 win over Germany at Wembley.

The 36 bus which has been renamed Rachel Daly.
The company said the renaming was its way of saluting Daly, who grew up in the town.

A pay rise of 30% has helped a specialist care provider recruit 120 new members of staff.
Vida Healthcare is deploying the new team members across its three care homes in Harrogate in roles including care assistants, registered nurses and wellbeing staff.
The pay increase has seen qualified care assistants increase their hourly rates from £9.61 to £12.32, while nurses have gone from £18.50 to £22.50.
James Rycroft, managing director at Vida Healthcare, said:
“Recent Skills for Care data found that filled posts in adult social care dropped for the first time ever and the number of vacant posts had increased by over 50%.
“It’s really important to us that we demonstrate to our team how much we appreciate and value them so that we can continue combating this crisis.
“Establishing various benefits including the pay increase and our bespoke training platform ‘Vida Academy’ also supports our colleagues in providing the best care to our residents. A role in social care isn’t just a job, but can be a very successful career.”
Vida Healthcare employs more than 470 staff to care for more than 200 residents living with dementia.
Its third care home, Vida Court on Beckwith Head Road, launched last year and features a cinema, sweet shop and hair salon.

New director for Harrogate-based Eye Airports
A new director has been appointed to the head of an airport advertising firm in Harrogate.
Rachel Davies joins Eye Airports as one of three new appointments for parent company CP Media.
The outdoor advertising specialist has also added Ed Armstrong and Richard Eccles to its board as head of marketing and group chief operating officer respectively.
It follows a year of growth for the firm, with a 40% increase in group revenues to £6.8m in the last financial year.
