Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally is set to return this weekend for its 56th year.
The two-day event, which started in the 1960s as a fundraiser to save Masham Town Hall, has become one of the Harrogate district summer highlights.
The event, which is held in the rally field just outside the town, is set to see thousands of people attend.
This year’s event is set to include a range of exhibitors including classic cars, tractors, steam engines and motorbikes.
A grand parade of steam is set to be held on the Saturday, along with Moto Stunts International which will perform a “high octane” stunt show in the arena on both days.
There will also be a funfair, face painting, mini trains and other activities for the family.
Peter Usher, who organises the rally, said:
“There is a huge amount of things going on whether you are a heritage enthusiast or a family of four.
“The location is lovely and frankly it is very good value for money.”
Entry costs £12 for adults, £11 for concessions and £3 for children up to 16. Younger children under five get in for free. A caravan park is available for overnight visitors.

In Pictures and video: Steam engine parade in Masham
Last night Masham market square hosted a parade of steam engines as part of the 2022 Masham Steam Rally. The event in Marfield Fields returned this weekend after a two year absence due to covid.
Hundreds gathered on a perfect summer evening to see a parade of engines make their way from the rally ground into the centre of town.
These pictures and video try to capture the event but do not do justice to the noise and smell of these fabulous machines — both gigantic and small.

It’s a mucky business messing with steam engines!

Here is our Facebook Live as the engines started to arrive into the town centre..
Masham Steam Rally postponed due to covidThis year’s Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally has been postponed due to covid.
The event was not due to take place until July 17 and 18, after lockdown restrictions were lifted.
But the organisers said there were “still too many uncertainties to proceed”.
The two-day event, which raises money for Masham Town Hall, is one of the highlights of the summer not only in Masham but the wider Harrogate district. It attracts 4,000 to 6,000 visitors.
This will be the second year running that covid has forced its cancellation.
A statement by the rally committee and trustees of Masham Town Hall said:
“This has been a very difficult decision to make, especially as the next rally to take place will be the 55th anniversary event.
“However, as our planning for the 2021 event has now reached a critical stage and notwithstanding that the dates announced by the government are not set in stone, there is still a lack of detailed health and safety guidance and information on what restrictions will be in place for public outdoor events of the scale of the rally.”
The statement adds rally finances are in “a very strong position” and to commit to spending on an event that might not take place would be “foolhardy and not within keeping with charitable financial governance”.

The next rally is now due to be staged on August 16 and 17 2022.
The rally committee is looking for “innovative ways to celebrate and focus on out fabulous industrial, agricultural and food heritage” on the weekend when this year’s event was due to take place, and has appealed for suggestions.
Masham Sheep Fair is still due to go ahead on September 25 and 26.
