A blinds and shutters company near Harrogate has gone into liquidation.

HG – NY Blinds and Shutters Ltd, which was based in a unit on Clint Bank, broke the news in an email on Saturday, April 13.

In the email, seen by the Stray Ferret, the company said the move followed “unforeseen financial difficulties” which meant it is “no longer able to sustain its operations”.

Amanda Simmons, who sent the email, also said:

“As a result, we are in the process of initiating the liquidation procedure. This means that the company will be winding down its affairs and assets to pay off its creditors.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you. We want to assure you that we are committed to handling this process with transparency and integrity.

“Sadly, I had to let all staff go at the end of March, without pay, so I am not able to offer any further fitting services.”

The move comes less than two years after the company, which manufactured and installed blinds and shutters, was set up in May 2022.

According to The Gazette, Cleckheaton based liquidators, XL Business Solutions, were appointed on April 3.

The Stray Ferret contacted the liquidators, who said the process is still “ongoing”, but confirmed the company has ceased trading.

The email to customers also said:

“I have asked the supplier if they are willing to allow me to give you their details to arrange for your order to be dispatched directly to yourself.

“I will inform you of their response asap.

“Thank you for your understanding and co-operation as we navigate through this difficult situation. We appreciate your business and hope for your understanding during this time of transition.”

Details of the liquidation, including a list of creditors and debts, have not yet been uploaded to Companies House.

An American-themed 1950s diner in Harrogate has appointed liquidators and applied to be wound up.

The Hub Caffe Ltd, which trades as The Fabulous 50s Diner, opened two years ago on the site of the former Cafe Rita on Bower Road.

An announcement on official public record website The Gazette said Richard Hunt of SFP Restructuring Limited in London had been appointed liquidator on July 21.

The Gazette also reported a general meeting of the company on the same date resolved to voluntarily wind-up the business.

The announcement, dated July 27, is authorised by director Wagdy Mansour.

The diner, which is still trading, has images of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley outside. Its menu includes milk shakes, ice-cream sundaes, waffles, burgers and hot dogs.

Mr Mansour and his wife Shirley ran Cafe Rita for eight years.

When the venue reopened as The Fabulous 50s Diner after covid, Mr Mansour told the Stray Ferret they had decided to go for something completely different. He said:

“We thought it was time for a change. So we thought about a theme and realised we didn’t have any American diners in Harrogate.”

The diner has not replied to the Stray Ferret’s requests for comment.

A meeting of creditors of Harefield Hall Ltd is to take place next week as the business faces the prospect of being wound-up.

Harefield Hall is a family-run guest house, restaurant and wedding venue popular with walkers and tourists. The building, set amongst 28 acres of woodland, once belonged to the Archbishop of York and is rumoured to have also belonged to Henry VIII.

The Gazette, a journal of public record, last week posted a notice by Elaine Little, a director of the company, announcing the virtual meeting of creditors on January 9.

The notice said the meeting had been called under section 100 of the Insolvency Act 1986, which allows for the appointment of a liquidator.

A meeting of shareholders prior to the creditors’ meeting will consider passing a resolution for voluntary winding up of the company. The notice added:

“The resolutions to be taken at the creditors’ meeting may include the appointment by creditors of a liquidator, a resolution specifying the terms on which the liquidator is to be remunerated, and the meeting may receive information about, or be called up to approve, the costs of preparing the statement of affairs and convening the meeting.”

Harefield Hall is situated off Ripon Road, just outside Pateley Bridge.

Two years ago Ms Little told the Stray Ferret she was looking forward with optimism after three covid lockdowns and flooding badly damaged business.

The Stray Ferret has called and emailed Harefield Hall seeking comment and clarification over whether it was still trading but not had a response.
