A Harrogate-based branding agency has created a website and provided digital services for a flagship London apartment scheme.

Impression Studio created the brand for property firm Greystar’s Bloom development at Nine Elms in the city.

As part of the project, Impression created a visual design and focused on devising bold typography, bespoke illustrations and 3D imagery.

The design team was given 10 weeks to deliver the project.

Jordan Donnelly, head of design at Impression Studio, said:

“The visual design was key to the project, focussing on large typography, unconventional grid systems and utilising bespoke illustrations to communicate the energy of the brand with a contemporary aesthetic.

“The creative was brought to life with on page interactions and elegant animations to elevate the brand experience, whilst not neglecting the site performance and taking away from the user experience.”

Running retailer announces heart charity partnership

A Harrogate-based specialist running retailer has announced a three-year partnership with the charity Heart Research UK.

Up & Running, which has a store on Station Parade, is set to launch a fundraising challenge in aid of the charity, which will include a 1,992 mile relay involving staff across its 29 stores.

The retailer will also host 5k training sessions aimed at getting people active.

Gillian Macfarlane, founder of Up & Running, said:

“We’re excited to embark on the partnership with Heart Research UK.  We have a lot of shared values with the charity when it comes to encouraging people of all fitness levels to exercise regularly and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.”

“More research is needed to prevent people developing and dying from heart disease, and the partnership with Up & Running will raise vital funds to help us fund more medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.”

A Harrogate law firm has acted to help facilitate a deal to acquire a minority share in Norwich City Football Club.

McCormicks Solicitors was involved in negotiations in which a group led by Mark Attanasio successfully acquired shares from a variety of holders, including long-serving club director Michael Foulger.

Mr Attanasio is an American businessman who is chairman and principal owner of Major League Baseball team the Milwaukee Brewers.

The McCormicks team, led by James Towler, a partner and head of corporate and commercial, acted on behalf of both Norwich and current joint majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones.

Mr Towler said: 

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the club and its majority shareholders on this transaction and I am delighted by the successful outcome.”

Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones said in a statement: 

“We’re really excited about the future. We care passionately about the football club and are confident that this will be right for all involved.

Harrogate running retailer to help donate socks to homelessness charity

A Harrogate running retailer has teamed up with a sock brand to donate socks to a homelessness charity

Up & Running, which is based on Station Parade, has partnered with Balega as part of the initiative.

Throughout September, for every pair of socks sold by the retailer, Balega will donate a pair to the Harrogate Homeless Project.

Talking about the campaign, co-managing director for Up & Running, George Cunningham said:

 “We are happy to once again be supporting local homeless shelters and projects, and are grateful to customers, staff and Balega for the contributions to the sock donation. 

“The issue of homelessness is heart-breaking and serious, and affects all communities. We hope that the sock donation will help in a small way to bring some comfort and dignity to those in need.”

Ripon Farm Services has opened a new branch near Malton.

The company, which supplies agricultural machinery, has moved into a depot at the 30-acre Eden Business Park.

It becomes the firm’s twelfth branch it has opened in the UK.

RFS has taken possession of a high-quality 22,000 sq ft building at the multi-million pound business park, which is located immediately off the A64 by the Pickering Road (A169) junction by Eden Camp.

Richard Simpson, commercial director of RFS, said: 

“The opening of our new Malton depot is a major milestone for Ripon Farm Services and signals our intention to ramp up the investment in our long-term future.

“This new building reflects the importance we place on serving the North and East Yorkshire farming, equestrian and ground care communities. We will be providing the full range of services that you would expect from a John Deere main dealer and will also be moving our Ifor Williams trailer dealership into our new depot.

“In addition, we will have a huge range of ground care equipment for both Groundscare professionals and homeowners alike. We can’t wait to get going.”

RFS has now started trading from the Malton depot and are organising an open day for all their customers on Thursday, October 27, between 12pm and 8pm.

Harrogate businesses set for Digital Festival dates

Harrogate law firm Berwins will host four events as part of Leeds Digital Festival later this month.

Its experts in digital and business law will speak about Giving Data Proper Respect on September 19, realising the Value of Your Intellectual Property on September 22, and Recognising and Recovering Revenue on September 26.

All three talks take place at Platform on New Station Street in Leeds.

Harrogate’s Co-Lab is also hosting an event at its base in Harrogate Convention Centre on September 28. It will focus on ways of raising funds for a tech start-up.

The final Berwins event is completely different: the law firm’s runners will lead a 6km route around the city centre, in partnership with Harrogate-based Up & Running, on September 30.
