The Madhouse Orchestra is BACK!

As if playing Bruckner’s mighty 8th symphony with only 17 people wasn’t enough, Madhouse is doubling down on its ability to punch well above its weight class with Gustav Mahler’s “tragic” 6th symphony. This particular work is so much more than an emotional heavy hitter; the scoring quite literally calls for a giant hammer! If you find yourself wondering if we kept that bit, come find out for yourself!

If irony and nihilism aren’t quite your thing, this program still has something to offer you yet. The esteemed soprano, Katherine Weber McAlpine, will be joining the ensemble for selections from Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin’s ‘Lady in the Dark.’ Lauded for her “dramatic conviction and touching sensitivity” by Chicago Classical Review, she is sure to be the perfect musical guide through this emotionally tumultuous, but ultimately uplifting, Broadway masterpiece.
