There’s nothing quite like celebrating small businesses and Little Bird Made does exactly that. Over three days more than 100 local makers, crafters and producers will fill Harewood’s North Lawn for its Artisan Spring Market.

Purchase handmade gifts that showcase the local talents of the community, and while you’re there, why not make a day out of it and treat yourself to a ticket to Harewood House too? Go on, you know you want to.

Pre-booked entry £5 (free for Harewood Members), on-the-day tickets £7.50, March 8-10, Harewood House, Harewood, Leeds, LS17 9LG, www.littlebirdmade.com.

Laugh along with Sophie McCartney at The Royal Hall

Renowned comedian Sophie McCartney is performing her stand up show Tired and Tested at The Royal Hall this Sunday 10 March, where she jokes about what it’s like to be a ‘proper’ grown up and the perilous world of parenthood.

Covering everything from her non-maternal Noughties wild child days to the highs and lows of being with child, no topic is off-limits – from the school WhatsApp group chats to jokes about needing a degree to collapse travel cots, you’re sure to laugh out loud at this gig that’s ironically happening on Mother’s Day.

Grab the last few remaining tickets while you can.

Tickets from £23, March 10, Royal Hall, Ripon Road, Harrogate, HG1 2SY.

What’s more, you’ll also get to enjoy the fruits of your labour with lunch served using the dishes that you’ve prepared during the day.

£185 per person, March 10, Swinton Cookery School, Swinton Park, Ripon, HG4 4JH.

The renowned Harrogate Beer Festival is back. With more than 40 cask ales, 10 kegged beers, an array of ciders, wine, prosecco, gin and soft drinks, the event will highlight some of the finest drinks the region has to offer.

Enjoy a pint of IPA in the beer hall, a G&T in the gin room or a non-alcoholic cocktail, all the while soaking up the excitement of the Six Nations rugby, listening to live local bands and DJ sets by Mark Green.

What’s more, the festival has the feel-good factor – 100 per cent of its profits go to local charities.

Pre-booked tickets from £20, March 8-9, The Crown Hotel, Harrogate, HG1 2RZ.

Sit back and watch The Epic of Everest accompanied by a live music score

(Image: Harrogate Theatre)

Hark back to the beginnings of film with this silent adventure documentary that recorded George Mallory and Andrew Irvine’s 1924 legendary Everest expedition, all to the background of instrumental music performed by Frame Ensemble.

The film also sparked debate as to whether one or both reached the top of the mountain before they died as they were last seen alive some 240 metres from the summit.

Not only is this motion picture a recording of historical significance – it features some of the earliest footage of life in Tibet – it artfully juxtaposes the breathtaking landscapes with the harsh realities locals endure while living in one of the world’s most unforgiving environments.

From £12, 7.30pm, March 9, Harrogate Theatre, 6 Oxford Street, Harrogate HG1 1QF.
