The body of a man was found in Harrogate town centre this morning (December 11).
North Yorkshire Police cordoned off the scene, on Union Street at the back of Westminster Arcade, after being alerted at about 8.30am.
A police statement this afternoon said the death was not currently being treated as suspicious.
It said:
We are currently at the scene of an incident near Parliament Street in Harrogate, which was reported to us at around 8:30am today.
The body of a man was found at the location, and his next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad time.
At this early stage of the investigation, the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.
Please avoid the area while police carry out enquiries at the scene.
