It’s the last two weeks of the school summer holidays, and parents across the Harrogate district might be breathing a collective sigh of relief.
And while we’ll be sad to see Harrogate’s Lego trail finish, saying goodbye to our resident Big Bad Wolf, it certainly doesn’t mark the end of the summer celebrations taking place across the district.
Whether you’re looking for some much-needed rest and relaxation after the six-week break, or still searching for some inspiration for days out, our spotlight on Yorkshire spas and must-visit Yorkshire gardens hotlist might be of help.
Last week, our local history feature was focused on Harrogate, and the unobtrusive brown plaque on Oxford Street at the back of the Primark store.
We delved into greater detail about the fascinating life of Captain Thomas Thrush R.N – look out for the next article in the series, detailing a chapter of Knaresborough history.
We also took a trip up and down the length of Cold Bath Road, speaking to the businesses that line the pavement, to find out more about the thriving independent scene there.
Our food columnist Yemi visited the Montpellier Quarter to review ‘Harrogate’s taste of Japan’ Domo to sample some of their best-loved dishes and give her verdict. Stray Ferret subscribers can decide for themselves and enjoy our exclusive 10% discount at the restaurant.
Looking ahead to the long weekend, our regular weekend events round-up highlights a diverse mix of activities taking place across the district. From axe-throwing to Ripon Races family day, find out how best to spend your bank holiday.
Ahead of the upcoming Heritage Days – which we’ve pulled together a comprehensive list of dates, times and locations for – we’re exploring the background of one of Harrogate’s most secretive buildings, the Masonic Hall.
Earlier in the week, we went to visit Craft & Social, a Knaresborough-based organisation that works with adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to find out more about the work they do. Look out for that feature coming this Sunday.
Finally, subscribers to the Stray Ferret can take advantage of a range of fantastic exclusive offers, discounts and giveaways from local businesses, which we regularly update.
We’re pleased to announce two of the newest members of the Stray Ferret Discount Partners Club – subscribers can not only enjoy a free side dish when they spend £10 instore at Rafi’s Spicebox, but they can also get 10 per cent off purchases instore at Georgie’s on West Park.
Don’t miss out on quality news in the district - by subscribing for just £4.99 a month or £49.99 annually, you will be able to access all daily news, in-depth features and lifestyle content as well as a whole range of fantastic exclusive discounts and offers.
