Harrogate Town chairman Irving Weaver has said the club’s search for new investors is subject to “a lengthy and detailed approval process which is currently ongoing with the Independent Football Regulator”.
The club appears to be on the cusp of new ownership after a week of significant changes.
It was revealed first team manager Simon Weaver has set up a company with Jonathan Blezard, who founded sports betting company Angstrom Sports.
The club then announced chief executive Sarah Barry has departed and Karen Tyson appointed managing director.
Irving Weaver, who is Simon’s father, asked fans to stand by the club in an update today (September 11).
He said he looked forward to sharing more details after the Independent Football Regulator granted approval to the changes.
The regulator was set-up to ensure the financial stability and sustainability of English football.
Town are at home to Tamworth in a 12.30pm kickoff tomorrow.
Irving Weaver's statement in full is below:
I would like to provide the following update to our supporters...
As first communicated in February, we have been working for some time now on finding suitable new investors that can support our ambition, as we look to continue to grow and progress as a club.
We do look forward to being able to share more details on this subject in the near future, at the conclusion of a lengthy and detailed approval process which is currently ongoing with the Independent Football Regulator.
However, until that approval is received, any further comment could hinder that process rather than help it. Please rest assured that as soon as any news can be communicated, we will do so immediately.
In the meantime, please continue to bring your voices to Wetherby Road to support the team over the upcoming home games as the men’s first team squad look to build further on what has been a promising and entertaining start to the season.
As a group we remain fully committed to giving everything we have to return the club to the EFL as quickly as we possibly can.
Thank you for your continued passionate support,
Irving
