Now home to boutique shops and trendy independent cafes and bars, the Montpellier Quarter is a Harrogate destination in its own right. But it started life as a group of early nineteenth century stables, as Malcolm explains.

Directions to next location point
Directions to Royal Pump Rooms (approx 3 minute walk)
- Walk out of the cobbled Montpellier Street and turn right onto Montpellier Parade.
- Walk down the hill to the roundabout at the bottom of Montpellier Parade. On your right is the Crown Hotel.
- Walk anti-clockwise around the roundabout on the pavement that is in front of the hotel entrance and turn down Royal Parade keeping on the right-hand side.
- In front of you is a green domed building with an iron and glass annex. This is the Royal Pump Room and Harrogate Museum.
