Allertons in Harrogate has reopened after an eight-month refurbishment, unveiling a modern, self-care-focused store. The updated space now mirrors the brand’s Leeds location, offering a blend of luxury haircare, skincare, and fragrance, alongside top-tier beauty services.
We speak to founder Nicholas Nícola to find out more.
Allertons closed for refurbishment on January 1, 2025, and reopened on Saturday, August 30, 2025 – after an eight-month refurb.
In that time, all three floors have been hugely upgraded to become a bite-sized version of our Leeds location. Because of this, Allertons Harrogate is now much more than just a salon; it is our latest self-care department store – everything for how you live, look and feel.
The new Allertons Harrogate features the new Café at Allertons, serving speciality Italian coffee, continental patisserie, freshly baked on-site pastries, food and more. It has indoor, outdoor and balcony seating, along with our click-and-collect and local delivery services.
The ground floor also features a boutique with haircare (including Kérastase), skincare (featuring Dermalogica and 111 Skin) and fragrance (Thameen, Urban Apothecary and more).
Upstairs there's hairdressing, hair treatments, colour services and even more haircare, and on our second floor, you can treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure, massage, Dermalogica facial or waxing.
For me, the best thing is bringing Allertons Harrogate up to date with our brand by offering all of the products and services that our other branches do.
Physically, my favourite part is the green sofa on the ground floor, which seems to be everyone's favourite part.
We have a team of new stylists with varying levels of experience to suit every budget and request.
We have a team of approximately 10 who work different shifts so that we can provide services seven days a week to fit in with the busy lifestyles of the people of Harrogate.
Allertons only offers treatments that we can be the absolute best at – we don’t do half measures, and we don’t cut corners, and this extends to everything we offer. For example, we use Bio Sculpture for manicures and pedicures, which is kind to your nails and has significant treatment benefits rather than just looking beautiful.
For waxing, we only use Lycon, the industry leader in quality wax that is as painless as possible. For facials we use Dermalogica, offering a number of classic facials, as well as microneedling and peels. In addition to these, Allertons Harrogate offers a whole menu of massage services if you’re looking for a more relaxing day.
We do! How many places in Harrogate offer coffee with such a lovely view of the Montpellier Quarter? We offer speciality Italian coffee (a blend exclusive to Allertons in Harrogate), iced drinks and smoothies, along with pastries that are freshly baked on-site each day (including my absolute favourite pistachio croissant), a selection of continental cakes and sweets (such as pastel de nata, pistachio cake, brownies and cannoli), and freshly made Italian sandwiches.
Coming soon is a very special lasagne, made using an 80-year-old family recipe, which is not to be missed this autumn.
For hair, we have luxury brands Kérastase and Keune. For skin, we have Dermalogica, 111 Skin and Dr. Levy (a cutting-edge Swiss brand based on stem cell technology). We have a number of fragrance and home brands, including Thameen, Gallivant, Stories, Ostens, Verden and Urban Apothecary.
On top of all this, we have a number of health and wellness, including Higherdose (LED masks, caps and sauna blankets), Vida Glow collagen, and Clinique La Prairie (longevity supplements made in Switzerland).
