1. Harrogate Railway snatch last-gasp equaliser

Harrogate Railway narrowly avoided their second loss of the season thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser on Saturday. Second-place Railway visited third-place Worsbrough Bridge in a six-pointer that could have seen Worsbrough leapfrog Rob Youhill’s side. The Rail went into halftime 3-1 down, but a 75th-minute strike from Sam Drake and 90th-minute equaliser from Sam Burton rescued a point. Railway can equal leaders Dearne and District’s points tally if they win their two games in hand. 

2. Barkham-Barnes scores four as Knaresborough Town end losing streak

Knaresborough Town finally ended their slump in league form with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Frickley on Saturday. Before the game, the Boro’ had not won a league game in 10 matches, with their last win coming in early September. Their last league win was in the reverse fixture against Frickley. Slater Barkham-Barnes had a day to remember, bagging four goals for Knaresborough. Lewis Knight and Will Lenehan got the others. Knaresborough have leapfrogged Frickley to move up to 13th in the NCEL Premier Division.

3. Harrogate Rugby Club triumph in local derby

Harrogate RUFC staged a convincing 28-12 victory away to local rivals York on Saturday, claiming the full five league points with a minute to spare. Amrit Sharma and Kristan Dobson scored two tries each, with Rory Macnab converting all four. Dobson’s 80th-minute try meant the Aces achieved an attacking bonus points, propelling them into the playoff spots. With 36 points from nine games, Harrogate are now three points behind second-placed Ilkley and seven points behind leaders Heath.

4. Wright secures Harrogate Hockey Club’s first win since September 

Harrogate Hockey Club’s women’s first team got their first win in eight games against local rivals York on Saturday. Evie Barnard’s side has struggled for form this year, losing seven of their first 10 games. But their 1-0 victory over York has taken them a point away from the bottom of the table. Evelyn Wright opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Harrogate maintained their narrow lead until the final whistle. Harrogate have now leapfrogged Ben Rhydding in the Yorkshire & North East Women's Premier Division.

5. Ripon Rockets win eight straight games

Ripon Rockets continued to be the dominant force in the NYNAL Senior Winter League Division One on Wednesday, brushing Bullets aside to win all eight of their games so far. Their 62-33 win saw them extend their league lead over Storm to 10 points, having picked up a maximum of 40 points from eight games.
