Calendars featuring archive images of Harrogate and Knaresborough have gone on sale.

Proceeds from the calendars will support North Yorkshire Council's library service.

The calendar initiative began last year to highlight how towns have changed. It has so far raised £1,350.

Harrogate, Knaresborough, Selby and Skipton all have their own calendars in 2026.

Library staff and volunteers chose photos from the towns dating back to between the late 19th century and the 1950s.

The Harrogate calendar includes photos of the Royal Pump Room Museum, Valley Gardens, The Ginnel, Albert Street and West Street.

The Knaresborough version features photos of the Market Place and scenes around the River Nidd, including the one accompanying this article of people ice skating on a frozen section of the river beneath the viaduct.

Cllr Simon Myers, the council’s executive member for libraries, said:

We were overwhelmed with the popularity of the calendars last year, and staff and volunteers have enjoyed sifting through more images to create 2026 editions.

Archive images get people talking, capturing life among communities from bygone years across some of North Yorkshire's towns.

The calendars are the perfect gift for friends, family and loved ones this Christmas.

The Harrogate and Knaresborough calendars can be bought at the towns’ libraries for £6.

The Skipton and Selby calendars can also be purchased at their respective libraries.
