Bettys has announced that it is introducing daytime reservations at its Harrogate town centre café tearoom — which could spell an end to the familiar outdoor queue.
Customers can currently book evening dining and afternoon tea at Bettys' Parliament Street tearoom.
But daytime customers who don't want afternoon tea have to turn up and hope to get a table, which often leads to queues snaking around the building.
However, Bettys announced today (March 23) it is to allow daytime reservations at The Spindler Gallery, which is on the lowest level of its Harrogate café, and at its Ilkley café.
Customers can book now for tables from March 30.
Nicky Sellers, director of operations at Bettys, said:
This is a milestone for Bettys and reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing the guest experience while preserving the timeless charm that has made Bettys a Yorkshire institution. We realise that the queue can be a barrier for some customers and we want to be able to offer everyone the Bettys experience that suits them best.
Bookings will close at 9am on the day of service and must be made on the company’s website.
However, walk-in customers are still welcome. Bettys said it had “carefully balanced availability so that both reservations and walk-ins are encouraged”.
Reservations can be made for evening dining at Harrogate and York from 6pm Thursday to Saturday and for afternoon tea at Harrogate and York.
