The owners of the BMW dealership serving the Harrogate district have submitted plans to upgrade the site.
Stratstone Harrogate BMW sells cars and provides service and maintenance at the dealership on Princess Royal Way in Pannal. It is owned by automotive retailer Lithia UK, whose other brands include Evans Halshaw.
Lithia UK has applied to North Yorkshire Council to increase the size of the workshop by converting the valet facilities in the main building.
According to a design and access statement prepared by Taylor Design Architects Ltd on behalf of Lithia UK, the plans also include refurbishing and recladding the showroom, relocating the smart repair building and creating a new valeting building.
The statement says:
This allows for the valeting to move from the main building, where additional workshop bays are required. The overnight deliveries building to the north-west of the compound will also be extended to allow for the increased workload. To further improve the site, the proposal widens the existing ramp down to compound.
The proposal is the result of careful consideration and responds to the requirements and opportunities of the existing location and client. This statement demonstrates that the proposed development adheres to the principles of good design and sustainable access.
The site is currently accessible through two entrances on Princess Royal Way.
The council will decide whether to approve the application.
