The boss of one of the winning companies at last year’s Stray Ferret Business Awards has said it made a real difference to his firm’s profile locally.

Marc Wise co-founded and leads adventure company Live For Today, the Ripley-based adventure company with bases in Harrogate, Swinton Park, Hazlewood Castle and the Yorkshire Dales. His firm won the Business Growth award and was named Business of the Year back in March.

He said:

We’ve entered the Stray Ferret Business Awards two years in a row and genuinely found the whole experience incredibly rewarding. It brought our team together, opened up brilliant networking opportunities, and the visibility that came from being a finalist – and eventually a winner – made a real difference to our profile locally.

I’d definitely encourage businesses to enter. Even being shortlisted creates momentum, credibility, and a great sense of pride across the team.

Live For Today also won the Business Growth award.

The Stray Ferret Business Awards, which are kindly sponsored for the fourth year in a row by Harrogate-based financial adviser Prosperis, recognise the brightest and best of the region’s business talent across all sectors.

Prosperis CEO Niall Gunn said:

Local business awards are a great way to recognise what we all do well locally, and businesses should not be shy about shouting loudly about their successes.

All too often, hardworking businesses, big and small, don’t get the opportunity to recognise their successes. The Stray Ferret Business Awards does that really well and it’s important that local business supports this as, in turn, it supports what we all do on a day-to-day basis.

The Stray Ferret Business Awards are open to entrants from across the Harrogate district, including Boroughbridge, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Masham, Nidderdale, Ripon and the surrounding areas.

The winners will be announced to 350 guests at a superb black-tie event in the Pavilions of Harrogate on March 26.
