A Harrogate environmental company has acquired a pollution remediation specialist as part of its growth strategy.
Adler and Allan, which is based on Victoria Avenue, has announced the acquisition of Barnsley-based MEL Environmental Solutions Ltd.
The firm specialises in developing and implementing sustainable soil and groundwater remediation solutions.
Henrik Pedersen, chief executive of Adler & Allan, said:
This latest acquisition is the first step of our ambitious growth strategy to create a unified suite of environmental services both across the UK and internationally. We are delighted to welcome MEL Environmental to the group.
Ripon BID has reported growing footfall in the city, according to latest figures for October.
Figures gathered by London-based data firm, Huq Industries, shows average weekly visitors reached 128,043 last month — a 35.8% increase compared to the year-to-date average.
Meanwhile, the average daily footfall since October 2023 has also increased from from 14,051 to 18,292.

The BID said the figures showed a positive response to activity in the city. A spokesperson said:
This surge suggests a positive response to local initiatives or events, reflecting a successful attraction of visitors during this period.
