Firefighters from Harrogate and Knaresborough were called out in the early hours of this morning when a chip fan caught fire at a home in Starbeck.
Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire at Albert Place, which broke out at about 3.20am.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
Hot oil in a chip pan had started the fire, which caused smoke damage throughout the house. The fire damage was confined to the pan, hob, and floor area around the cooker. Crews used four breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property, and a thermal imaging camera to check for any residual hotspots. Neighbouring properties were also checked for smoke logging.
