A planning application has revealed the details of a proposed new Harrogate veterinary hospital.
The Harrogate Vet, which is owned by parent company CVS UK Ltd, announced the news of its expansion in April.
It currently has a site on Leeds Road, but is set to open the new animal hospital on Ripon Way, which is just off Ripon Road.
Plans submitted to North Yorkshire Council give details of what would be a 24-hour surgery.
The building, known as Adam House, is a four-storey office block and documents supporting the application say the "building as a whole will be occupied by CVS UK Ltd".
There will be five consult rooms, a pharmacy and a laboratory on the ground floor, with two theatres, a dental suite, an X-ray and ultrasound room and a CT machine on the first floor.
Plans suggest there will also be another X-ray machine on the third floor, as well as a dental scanner.
If approved, there will be canine and feline kennels, as well as a large waiting area partitioned off to separate animals.
The application also includes plans to build a dog walking area outside of the surgery.
It will consist of a slab base topped with synthetic grass, and a 3.125-metre timber fence will surround the area.
The third floor would consist of a large open office, which includes individual and communal workspaces, as well as three private offices and two meeting rooms.
Documents suggest there will also be a kitchen, a bar seating area, a shower and toilets on the same floor.
The third floor would comprise two “wet labs”, a break-out room, an office and a quiet room, as well as another kitchen area, if approved.
The application also seeks permission for new external signage and two electric vehicle charging bays among the on-site parking.
At the time of the announcement, The Harrogate Vet said the new site would be a “state-of-the art hospital”.
One of the vets, Diane Cole, told the Stray Ferret in April:
It just doesn’t seem fair to have to refer people to practices in Wetherby, Leeds or Ripon when they live in Harrogate.
We’re also hiring more vets with specialised certificates, so we’ll be able to deal with much more specialised cases and complex surgeries at the new site.
The Harrogate Vet treats all small animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and tortoises.
According to its website, the new 24-hour hospital will open in July but the council has yet to adjudicate on the application.
