Developer submits 60-home plan near Cardale Park in Harrogate
A developer has submitted plans to build 60 houses near Cardale Park in Harrogate.
Keepmoat Homes, which is based in Doncaster, has lodged the proposal to North Yorkshire Council for a site off Beckwith Head Road.
The scheme, which would sit between Vida Healthcare and Cardale Park, would see a mix of properties built on the site.
It would include one, two, three and four-bedroom homes — of which 35% would be allocated as affordable — and range from two to three storey houses.
In its plan, the developer described the site as “accessible and sustainable” and “well suited for residential development”.

The site, known as H88, is currently allocated as employment land in the Harrogate District Local Plan which was adopted in December 2020.
However, Carter Jonas, which submitted the application on behalf of Keepmoat Homes, said no employment use has come forward since the adoption of the Local Plan.
It added that the housing proposal would provide an “efficient use” of land.
It said:
The site offers an opportunity to deliver much needed housing on a site which has been committed for employment since the Harrogate local plan was adopted in December 2020 and has not come forward for development. The development of the site for housing would support efficient use of land.
Carter Jonas added that approval of the plan would also support “the delivery of much needed housing in a sustainable location”.
The move comes as developers have previously spoken of "pent-up demand" for employment sites in the Harrogate district.
At a council planning committee on Tuesday, Daniel Martin, co-owner of Teakwood Developments, which applied for a second phase expansion of the Burley Bank Road in conjunction with DS Estates, told the meeting the development would “unlock pent-up demand” for employment sites in the Harrogate area.
The council approved the plans partly on the ground of the need for more employment sites.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the Cardale Park plan at a later date.
