Knox Lane in Harrogate.

The housing developer behind plans to build 60 homes on a greenfield site in Harrogate will hold a consultation event for local residents tomorrow (Wednesday, November 26).

Avant Homes has not yet applied for planning permission for the scheme, but says it would be an “inclusive and accessible development” of one-bed, two-bed, three-bed and four-bed homes, “designed to meet the needs of young and growing families, first-time buyers, and downsizers”.

Most properties would be semi-detached, but the scheme, which would be built in partnership with housing association Yorkshire Housing, would include adaptable and wheelchair-accessible new homes, including bungalows.

Most of the 60 homes would be semi-detached.

A new junction off Knox Lane would be built to access the new homes, and Avant is proposing pedestrian links to the south-east and to connect to the public right of way to the north-west – in other words, the footpath that leads from Knox Lane over Knox Hill to Ripon Road.

Derbyshire-based Avant said the development would be “ecologically sensitive” and retain most of the existing landscape features, with “appropriate measures to protect existing trees and hedgerow where possible”.

Other considerations for discussion include infrastructure, flood risk and drainage, and public open space.

The drop-in consultation event will be held tomorrow (Wednesday 26th November) at The Knox pub on Knox Lane, between 3pm and 7pm.
