Last weekend’s news agenda was dominated by heavy snowfall which caused disruption across the Harrogate district.
As part of our remit to keep the public informed during adverse weather events, the Stray Ferret worked throughout Sunday on a live blog to keep the district up to date.
Our team of journalists ran the blog for 15 hours. It included public transport updates, school closures and weather forecasts. You can read a recap of the coverage here.
We also put together a gallery of pictures, which was entirely made up of contributions from Stray Ferret readers.
The snowfall also sprang up a dramatic story.
A group of walkers from Harrogate had to be rescued after climbing England’s highest mountain in the snow.
The group of men in their 20s drove to the Lake District at midnight despite the amber snow warning, but got lost on their way down and became cold, wet and feared for their safety. You can read more on the extraordinary story here.
Elsewhere in news, we took a closer look at the saga over the closure of the A59 Kex Gill and the £68 million project to realign it.
The idea to realign the road was conceived around January 2016, but nine-years later it has still not finished. We put together a timeline charting the project from its infancy to the present day, which subscribers can read here.
We also looked at the current closure, which happened on new year's day, as a whole as residents complained over a lack of communication from the council.
Subscribers to the Stray Ferret can also take advantage of a range of fantastic exclusive offers, discounts and giveaways from local businesses, which we regularly update.
Don’t miss out on quality local news in the district - by subscribing for just £4.99 a month or £49.99 annually, you will be able to access all daily news, in-depth features and lifestyle content as well as a whole range of fantastic exclusive discounts and offers.
