Ripley went back in time to the 1940s today (March 11) for filming of a new series of All Creatures Great and Small.

TV crews descended on the village yesterday (March 10) to transform it into post-war Yorkshire before filming took place today.

The front of the former site of Ripley Store was changed to the Brawton Store, and lots of 1940s-style groceries were placed in the window. Cars from that period were also rolled onto the set.

World War Two-era cars were rolled into the village.

The door of the building next door to the store was painted by the crew, and a 'veterinary surgeon' sign put up.

Chantry House Gallery was completely revamped to look like an old residential home.

Filming began early this morning, with Nicholas Ralph, who plays the lead character James Herriot, on set for several hours.

The crew were in the village until around 12pm today. They then quickly packed up and went to another film set in Bradford.

Filming is taking place for the show’s seventh series. Its sixth instalment aired on Channel 5 in January and February.

Reports suggest an eighth series is also in the pipeline.
