Firefighters were called to the Stray in Harrogate to extinguish a fire that is believed to have been started deliberately last night.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s overnight report revealed a crew from the town was called out at 8.37pm.
Dozens of young people were on the Stray due to the fine weather.
The report said:
Harrogate crew responded to reports of youths setting fires in a field. On crew arrival they found two disposable barbecues lit, cause believed deliberate by youths. Fire crews used buckets of water to extinguish.
