Harrogate Christmas Fayre almost halved in length as dates revealed
The dates of this year’s Harrogate Christmas Fayre have been revealed with the event significantly shorter than last year.
The event, organised by Market Place and backed by North Yorkshire Council, has been an annual fixture in the town since 2021.
The council today confirmed the fayre will return from Friday, December 5, to Sunday, December 14, this year.
But the event, which was held over 17 days last year, has almost halved in length.
The candy cane express road train will also make its annual return this year, but the council did not mention the return of the 32-metre ferris wheel in today’s statement.
A range of stalls will line the streets of Harrogate, selling gifts, food and drinks.
The council’s executive member for open to business, Cllr Mark Crane, said today:
We are delighted to once again be supporting the Harrogate Christmas Fayre.
Events such as this bring significant benefits for businesses at a crucial time in the calendar.
They bring people into town centres as well as attracting visitors from outside of the area to plan their festive break here in North Yorkshire.

Over recent years, Harrogate Business Improvement District (BID), which supports the Christmas fayre, has conducted surveys to gather feedback on the event.
Matthew Chapman, chief executive of Harrogate BID, added today:
We received some really positive responses in relation to last year’s Christmas Fayre and we are delighted that North Yorkshire Council is supporting the event again for 2025.
As the BID, we feel it’s very important to offer the chance to our members to feedback on such a critical time of year for the business community.
We’re passionate about not only listening to the voices of local businesses, but sharing their thoughts with key partners as we work to continue to develop and enhance the Christmas offer in our town.
North Yorkshire Council today claimed the latest review of the fayre found 79% of respondents supported the event and the town’s overall offering during the festive period.
81% of respondents said the location of the stalls and the attractions had worked well, and felt the fayre brought a positive atmosphere to the town, the council added.
The pop-up Little Bird Artisan Market will also return to Valley Gardens on December 6 and 7, and December 13 and 14.
