A Harrogate cricketer has been named the league’s best player at an awards ceremony in Leeds.
Tijana Metcalfe was presented with the player of the season award for her performances in the West Yorkshire Women and Girls Cricket League Hardball Premiership last year.
Tijana, 23, scored 352 runs in 12 games last season – more than anyone in the league. She also took five wickets in 20.2 overs for the club - Harrogate's sixth-best bowling record.
Alongside her sister, 16-year-old Caitlin, the pair also achieved the league’s best batting partnership – scoring 148 runs between them against Menston.
Caitlin's batting achievements were also recognised at the awards, which took place at Elland Road’s Centenary Pavilion on Saturday (February 21)
Tijana, who turned 23 on the day of the awards, has played for Harrogate for two seasons, having joined from Sessay in 2023.
In 2024, she was also presented with an award for scoring a century against Skipton.

Tijana's two batting awards next to her player of the year trophy.
Speaking to the Stray Ferret today, Harrogate Cricket Club’s head of women and girls, Suzanne Oliver, said:
It’s a great achievement for Tia. She’s someone the girls can look up to because we’re quite a young side. It’s great for us to have quality players who can build on their previous successes here.
We want to support her in developing her cricket. She’s a great asset to the club, and everyone loves her. She gets on really well with everyone and is a real team player.
Ms Oliver added that the Metcalfe family are a big part of Harrogate CC, with both of Tijana’s parents regularly volunteering.
Harrogate CC’s women’s side is open to any cricketers aged 13 and above. The average age is around 17, Ms Oliver said.
The club also has junior teams for ages 5 to 15.
