A Harrogate man has been sentenced for possessing indecent images of children.
David Clark, 37, of Silverfields Road, appeared before Harrogate Magistrates Court today (December 19) where he spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
Clark admitted possessing four category C images of children at a previous hearing on August 23.
He appeared before magistrates this afternoon for sentencing.
Antony Farrell, prosecuting, told the court the offence took place on August 13, 2023.
He said Clark was arrested at his home address, where a Samsung Galaxy phone was seized.
Mr Farrell said four images found on the phone were of females between the age of 14 and 16.
The prosecution requested that magistrates consider imposing a community order for the offence.
Andrew Tinning, defending, said that a community order was “entirely appropriate”.
He added that there were no “aggravating features” to the offence and that Clark had no relevant previous convictions.
Magistrates imposed an 18-month community order on Clark, which includes 25 rehabilitation activity days and 140 hours of community service.
He was also ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85.
